May & June News

During the Month of May, AHCC hosted a Webinar to educate our members on the number-one project management software program, Procore. The presenters, Alan Paquette and Jeff Shannon, have exclusive rights to sell Procore at a reduced cost for our members, less than if you bought directly from Procore

And, included with this purchase, both Alan and Jeff will provide hands on consultation to make sure it is installed correctly and used efficiently by your in-house construction team. Alan and Jeff are back by popular demand and scheduled to air via webinar on June 19th , 2018 at 10:00 am to 11:00 am with time for questions. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to save money and to discover how to better protect your businesses via some instrumental insights.

Keep an eye on our calendar for upcoming webinars and events.

Events

Also, during May, M&T Bank hosted a presentation at their Rockville location.  They were a gracious host, having several key players from the bank attend, with the presentation being in both Spanish and English. Their expedited process for bank lines of credit and their mission to be hands on with personal attention to your needs, won them a few new clients at the May 22nd event. They promise to provide flexible financing, fewer forms and faster turnarounds. They are also one of the Top 10 SBA Lenders. For more information, contact us.

Partner Event

On June 15th , AHCC’s affiliated company, Party For A Cure, a non-profit 501(c)3, will be hosting its 10th annual gala to help children and adults afflicted with muscle wasting diseases.  Over the past year, PFAC has raised nearly $1 million.

At our event at Turf Valley in Ellicott City, Bruce Cunningham, the “Voice of the Ravens,” will be our emcee.

Membership

As a reminder, for new AHCC members as well as renewing members, this year the cost of your membership will include four free sessions.  With the introduction of webinars, our costs are reduced and we are thrilled to pass these savings on to you our members.   Please click here for more information regarding memberships.

While we are introducing the new format of webinars, all members continue to have the option of attending sessions in person assuming the presenter is able to be on-site.  In addition, many of our members expressed the need for the presentations to be in both English and Spanish so their key employees and spouses can attend.  We will gladly comply, and any translation needs can be accommodated on an individual basis.

For those who request it, presentation material will be emailed in advance in Spanish.

In an effort to expand our reach, we are asking all of our members and friends to click on our social medial feeds below and like & share our AHCC posts.

This will assist us in growing our network but more importantly enable us to educate more individuals with our programs.

Legislation

May was also an important month for the Maryland Legislature. Bills get signed, the good, bad and even the ugly ones. Well, one good, or should we say GREAT bill, was signed into law, Senate Bill 245.  For more information on this new law, see our last newsletter.

This bill will create a new surety bond form for multi-year construction and service work issued by the State. Typically, the state requires one bond for all five years of the contract. Now, like federal government, a new bond will be required each year, making it easier for small businesses to qualify for surety bond support on multi-year contracts. Thank you to the Bellamy and Genn Group, LLC, lobbyists advocating for AHCC and to Luiz Guiterriez of Dream Management in making this dream of a bill turn into law.
