Washington Minority Companies Association , MDOT , Capital Region Minority Supplier Development Council , Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs , Small Business Development Center , and Office of Small Business Regulatory Assistance (DLLR) . SB&D’s Global Training University open its doors wide to all AHCC’s supporters and attendees. The training participants and the SB&D quality experts had a blast working with the latest and greatest DeWalt tools while leaning important safety protection. On top of expert safety training and one-to-one networking experiences, SB&D graciously raffled off lots of tools and promotional items. We certainly brought communities together and opened more doors to more opportunities. And for that, we extend a huge thank you to Robert Newman and Katia Ries of SB&D.
Our upcoming events are going to be show stoppers. We have secured Carrie Ann Williams and her firm Andana Consulting, LLC who have assembled a series of webinars for AHCC that follow the RFP Process and provide a nearly complete training program. Learn how prime contractors respond to proposals that require qualifications in addition to best pricing strategies for federal type MATOCs, multiple award task order contracts. This training session is well suited for those firms looking to capture set-aside work with the federal government. But, these best practices have applications suited for many venues.

The solicitation / RFP is out, so now what?

This session focuses on the initial activities firms must follow to set themselves up for a successful, complaint proposal. We will cover pre-positioning/capture, Go/No-Go decision making, compliance matrix development / alignment of solicitation requirements. This is for solicitations that have a qualifications / technical component to them – not just hard bid. Learn about the differentiators and to include them in response. Keep in mind, saying your have 30 years of experience, for example, is not a differentiator.

After the Go decision is made and proposal schedule is developed, this session will dive into how to host an effective Kick Off meeting for the proposal team, how to set the proposal schedule and writing assignments so internal deadlines can be met, how to gather the data you need to create a proposal with impact (i.e., the proof points you need to demonstrate your success on previous projects and the data points that show depth and breadth of experience).

As principal of Andana Consulting, Carrie Ann Williams, CPSM works with organizations to guide proposal development and create amazing content. Carrie Ann has more than 15 years of experience successfully tracking, pursuing, proposing, and winning local, state, and federal contracts in the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C), environmental and IT. Through her knowledge of the full lifecycle of government consulting, Carrie Ann has supported hundreds of government proposals and contracts as a Marketing Director, Proposal Manager, and Project Manager for several A/E/C organizations.
She advises firms on market research, overall strategy, and marketing tactics and speaks on marketing topics nationwide to organizations including SAME, SMPS, AIA, and NVSBE. Carrie Ann is active with Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) where she is co-chair for the national STEM Committee, is currently an Elected Director for SAME Baltimore Post. She is an active member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services, Urban Land Institute, and the American Institute of Architects. In 2010, she received the Young Member Award from SAME Baltimore Post. In 2011, she received the Young Member Award from SAME Baltimore and the RVP medal in 2014. A Certified Professional Services Marketer, Carrie has an undergraduate degree in English Literature and a Masters of Business Administration. Carrie Ann is “Inbound Certified” and “Content Marketing Certified” from HubSpot.

Veronica Cool recently received the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award for her tireless efforts to advance Latinas. She was a speaker at the Baltimore Women’s March. Her prize of $2,000 was donated to the Open Society Institute . Says Veronica, “As an entrepreneur, I truly get to do what I love, it’s not easy or quick, but we are seeing more and more progress. I’m so pleased to see more communities engaging, and access to undeserved individuals increasing.” Congratulations, Veronica!
Karen Barbour has won a Women of Leadership and Excellence Award for her significant leadership role in the construction industry and her company’s successful contractor advocacy by the Women Leadership Magazine USA at their Women of Power Conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in DC. “I’m honored to receive this award given how many intelligent, successful women in the workforce are changing industry expectations and going the distance to build communities,” said Barbour. “To be recognized by the national publication Women Leadership Magazine USA amongst such stellar nominees ‘tipping the scales of power’ is of treasured importance to me and all who continue to support my efforts.”
